The Republican Party was certain that a huge red wave would occur in 2022 and give the party a sizable majority in the House of Representatives, and there was talk of the party possibly winning a Senate majority as well. Neither of these predictions manifested. The Republican Party did win a majority in the House, but a slim one. Democrats not only kept our majority in the Senate, but we picked up a seat. The 2022 midterms were historic, not in how the minority party typically makes significant gains, but how badly it didn't. The much-touted red tsunami turned into a mere dribble, and we owe much of this to Generation Z.

Across the country, Gen Z stepped up and made their voices heard through their votes. They overwhelmingly rejected extreme right-wing election denying and Trump endorsed candidates. They rejected the attacks on women's rights, LGBTQ rights, immigrants, the failure to pass reasonable gun legislation and much more.

 

Generation Z is our future, and they need a seat at the table. We encourage all of our teens and young adults to get involved with politics at the local, state, and federal levels.
